Awareness Concert at North County
June 1st, 2019, Living the Example Youth Ambassadors from North County High School, put on an awareness concert for their community featuring rising pop sensation group, JAGMAC.

The Youth Ambassadors worked together to plan and promote the event throughout the school and community. They also recruited the cheerleading team of North County High School and the school’s hip hop dance team to perform. The event was a time for family and community to share with one another and enjoy a night in a safe environment.

JAGMAC infused a message of prevention and on the importance of good health, free from substance, into their energetic and dynamic performance.

Teachers and staff that supported the event were all raving about the event that was attended by 450 people.

The event was a big incentive and conclusion to a three week campaign in which ambassadors led prevention activities such trivia competitions during lunch, scavenger hunts, raffles and give aways to spread awareness and promote healthy living.

Social media campaign from  – In a matter of three weeks, NC ambassadors gained 367 followers as a result of a creative social media campaign to engage students. Using raffles connected with trivia, they encouraged peers to follow the NCHS LTE page where they would promote content to reach them. Gaining a large following in such a short amount of time shows the impact student were having. By creative a buzz around the school, students used this to create dialogue and conversations about the mission of Mentor.

When our 11th-grade class received funds to bring a drug awareness event to the school, we didn’t want to do the typical ‘say-no-to drugs’ message. We wanted to do something positive and uplifting that would not feel like we’re forcing them to stay away from drugs.
